Discover Norway Like a Local: Small Group Tour (Summer 2026 – Limited Spots!)
The Norway Tour at a glance
The tour is 8 days and 7 nights long, and cover some of my favorite parts of Norway It’s not a standard “highlights tour”, but focuses on authentic experiences, and giving you both a nice introduction, but at the same time an in-depth understanding of Norway. We’ll be staying four nights in innovative Oslo and three nights on a rustic family run farm. This way you’ll get a taste of both the urban and rural Norway. You can find the full itinerary on Guided By, my trusted partner where you can book the tour.

Why a small group tour?
Because it means more personal attention from your guide (me), more opportunities to ask questions and interact with locals, and a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere. You’ll forge genuine connections with your fellow travelers, creating lasting friendships and shared memories. The Guided By groups are limited to just 15 participants, ensuring a truly personalized and enriching experience.
A lot of value for money
There’s no reason to beat around the bush, Norway is a high-cost country. However, a lot is included in the tour:- Most meals (except for two dinners and one lunch in Oslo)
- We’ll eat at some of the best restaurants! (not the touristy ones)
- Drinks (even alcohol) is included with the group meals
- A 48 Hours Oslo Pass will give you free entrance to most museums and sights, and include all public transportation
- All gratuities for guides, hotels, restaurants, and drivers
- Upgraded room at one of my favorite hotels in Oslo
- An authentic and comfortable farm stay
- Every day include some kind of exciting activitie(s) such as guided walks, historical sights, bread baking class, hiking and much more!
- Pre-tour travel consultation including 1-hour personalized tour planning session with Pål for extended travel
Lodging
In Oslo you’ll check in to one of my favorite hotels in town where you can enjoy a friendly staff, upgraded rooms and a hearty included breakfast. The hotel will be centrally located, so that it’s easy to also go out and explore on your own. In the countryside we’ll be staying at the iconic Sygard Grytting Farm for three nights, immersed in their traditions, and sleeping in the rustic and comfortable rooms they prepare for us. This is a very exclusive, authentically Norwegian experience. This is not a farm that has become a hotel. This is a farm, operating as a regular farm, which invites some visitors to stay for a limited period every summer.

Food
There is a lot of very exciting food happening in Norway, and that’s what I want you to experience. We’re going to go to some of my favorite restaurants, and you’ll have plenty of culinary experiences. Five dinners and four lunches are included, and although I can’t say it’s an all inclusive tour, it’s not far from it. Expect plenty of surprise snacks along the way! I love sweets, and especially delicious Norwegian chocolate.
Norway Tour Highlights
Hah… where to start, there are so many!Oslo
Did you know that you can swim everywhere in the Oslo fjord? A very popular activity these days is to enjoy sauna combined with a dip in the fjord. And for those who want to join me in this very Nordic tradition, I’ll be reserving a private floating sauna down at the fjord on our third day in Oslo (optional activity).
Drøbak & Oscarsborg fortress
I don’t think anyone should visit Oslo without cruising on the Oslo fjord, and seeing some of the surroundings. So we’ll hop on a public ferry in downtown Oslo and sail down to the Oscarsborg Fortress. There, we will learn about the Battle of Drøbak from 1940, which marked the end of the “Phoney War” and the beginning of World War II in Western Europe. The wreck of the Blücher, a German cruiser, remains on the sea floor and I still get goosebumps whenever I sail nearby.

Maihaugen Open Air Folk Museum
After Oslo our first stop is the Maihaugen Folk Museum in Lillehammer. This is one of the best, and largest, open-air folk museums in Norway, and features an impressive collection of old timber farm houses, beautiful exhibitions of historical artifacts and much more.

Ringebu Stave Church
You can’t visit Norway without visiting a stave church. Seeing a medieval wooden church of this kind will leave you speechless, and make you wonder how such an old wooden structure can still be standing? This particular one is the Ringebu Stave Church which dates back to 1220.
An authentic farm stay
At the historic Sygard Grytting farm we will enjoy everything our hosts have to offer! We’ll be given a guided tour of the farm, learn about traditional farming and all the food they produce right there. We’ll be invited to try our hand at breadmaking (Norwegian style!) in a cooking class.
In addition to this there will be the chance for joining some optional hikes, but if you prefer you can also relax on the farm and enjoy the valley views. As the Sygard Grytting farm is located right on the Saint Olav pilgrimage trail to Nidaros, you might want to walk in the steps of thousands of pilgrims before you
We will also visit a nearby seter (mountain farm), where we will meet a farmer who has taken their animals to graze in the hills for the summer. It is a unique experience, and UNESCO has recently named Seterkultur (Summer mountain farm culture) to its World Heritage List.
Who is this Norway Tour for?
I’d say this tour is for a broad range of travelers. Perhaps you’ve been to Norway before and seen some highlights, then this tour is a chance to have some authentic experiences and get a deeper understanding of Norway. The tour is also a great option if you are visiting Norway for the first time. It’s a nice introduction to Norwegian history and culture, and you can easily add on some days to your stay after the tour if you’d wish to see more. I hope to see you in Norway summer 2026!Your friend in Norway,
Pål
