Talking to Rick Steves about Norway
Talking to Rick Steves about Norway
Monday Night Travel – Norwegian Edition
I work as a guide and guidebook writer for Rick Steves Europe, and when Rick e-mailed me and asked if I wanted to co-host his Monday Night Travel Show, I said: OF COURSE.
Rick, who has Norwegian ancestry wanted this show to evolve around Norway and Syttende Mai (our National Day). So therefor the show would be on that very day, the 17th of May.
Since this was on Seattle time, it meant 2-5 am for me. So I rigged myself up with some Aquavit, pølse i lompe, open faced sandwiches and some delicious bløtkake (cake).
It was A LOT of fun! Luckily there is a recording, so check it out below and make a SKÅL with Rick and I. Also I’m sharing with you a few “behind the scenes” shots.

What a special and collaborative presentation of Norway! I have been watching Rick’s travel shows on PBS for years (and knew he had Norwegian ancestry) so together with Norway with Pål made it really fun. I learned a lot!!
PS…I could never eat pølse i lompe at 3am so that is very impressive 🙂
haha, yes it was quite a challenge to eat all those pølser and drink all those shots of aquavit throughout 5 hours in the middle of the night… 😀 I’d do it again though, it was a lot of fun talking to Rick about Norway, and I got a lot of nice feedback afterwards. Thanks for your comment!
