Kon-Tiki: Across the Pacific in a Raft – Thor Heyerdahl

The story of the Kon-Tiki is one of my favorite “adventure” books, and is a classic that has been translated to more than 70 languages around the world.

Through Thor’s own eyes you get to follow this remarkable journey in a balsa wood raft, sailing more than 4,300 nautical miles from Peru across the Pacific Ocean to Polynesia. By doing this, Thor wanted to prove that the Polynesian Islands had been settled from the east, and that there had been contact between ancient civilizations. A must read for any adventurous soul in any age group.
